Area 11-Q Upgrade Procedures

National Upgrades
Minimum Requirements
- Complete National Course.
- Pass National written examination by score of 90%.
- Successful completion of fitness test.
- Referee total of 100 games with minimum of 30 games in U-16 or U-19 (15 in U-19) age groups.
- Assistant Referee minimum of 25 games in U-16 or U19 (10 in U-19) age groups.
- Successful assessment as Referee in two U-19 games.
- Successful assessment as Assistant Referee in a U-19 game.
- Completion of five additional service points.
Procedure
- Upon successful completion of the course, written examination and fitness test, the candidate will obtain an upgrade form with the course number, roster number and instructors signature.
- After meeting the minimum number of games requirement, the candidate requests an observation from his Region Referee Administrator (RRA).
- RRA will contact Joe Kazzi, Area Director of Assessment, to assign an observer/mentor to evaluate the candidate readiness for assessment as a Referee in U-16 and or U-19 age groups.
- When the candidate is found ready, the ARA or ADA will request a national candidate assessment from the Section Director of Assessment (SDA).
- Candidate is responsible to secure the assessment games and form a team of officials for his/her assessment, preferably 2 weeks in advance, and notify the Section Director of Assessment (SDA).
- SDA will assign the assessor for the reserved games.
- Upon successful completion of the assessments, candidate will secure required signatures from his RRA, Area Referee Administrator (ARA) and Section Director of Assessment (SDA).
- Candidate will make sure that he gets the assessor signatures as well as his RRA signature on his upgrade form.
- Make a copy the upgrade form and keep it for your records.
- Once signed by the SDA, ARA, and RRA, make a copy and mail the completed original to:

- Continue to referee games with your Advanced badge while waiting for National to send you your new National Referee badge.
Advanced Upgrades
Minimum Requirements
- Complete advanced training modules 20 through 24
- Pass Advanced written examination by score of 90%.
- Successful completion of fitness test.
- Referee total of 50 games with minimum of 10 games in U-14 age groups.
- Assistant Referee minimum of 5 games in U-14 age groups.
- Successful assessment as Referee in a U-14 game.
- Successful assessment as Assistant Referee in a U-14 game.
- Completion of five service points.
- Secure the required signatures from the RRA, instructors and mentors/assessors along with course roster number.
Procedure

- Continue to referee games with your Regional badge while waiting for National to send you your new Advanced Referee badge.
Intermediate Upgrades
Minimum Requirements
- Complete Intermediate training modules 14 through 19.
- Pass Intermediate written examination by score of 90%.
- Referee total of 25 games with minimum 5 games in U12 age groups.
- Complete an observation as a referee at U-12 game.
Procedure
- Upon successful completion of the course, written examination and fitness test, the candidate will obtain an upgrade form with the course number, roster number and instructors signature.
- When ready, the candidate will request an observation from their Regional Referee Administrator (RRA).
- If approved, the RRA will forward a request to Regional Director of Assessment (RDA) who will oversee the observation.
- After successful completion of observation, the candidate will request his Regional Referee Administrator's signature of his upgrade form.
- Make a copy the upgrade form and keep it for your records.
- Send the original to Linda Hayden, Area Referee Administrator (ARA) for Area 11-Q for signature via:
